Autumn 2009

Life continues to be wonderful in Georgia. The nights are cool, the days are warm and except for the occasional day of rain, the weather is just perfect. The drought is officially considered to be over, though our water saving habits persist – a good thing. Dylan is almost 26 months old now – I used to think it was weird that people gave their toddlers’ ages in months, but I get it now! Every day there’s something new – words, facial expressions, attitudes. And – Ehren and Sarah are now engaged to be married! Ehren’s nursing program starts in January at Georgia State. He passed on MCG’s acceptance to their nursing program – he wanted the Athens campus but they had a spot for him at the Augusta campus, an impossible commute from Loganville. Sarah is working at a vet’s office in Winder, learning the vet tech ropes as much as she can; she also continues to go to Athens Tech. Jim attended a record breaking three prog rock events this year and is trying to make it four. Let’s see if he can do it. Joan continues to knit and work on arts and crafts. Life truly is grand!

News from the Front - January 2009

Time passes swiftly and strangely - it's hard to believe that we've been in Georgia almost a year and a half. Our grandson Dylan continues to be the center of our universe and we enjoy seeing his amazing development everyday. As of January 2009, he's running around the house, hard to keep up with, and he's vocalizing in a strange and beautiful language that his parents swear they can understand. He goes to daycare a few days a week now. Ehren has finished his pre-requisites and is awaiting the start of the nursing program at the Medical College of Georgia in June. Sarah continues with her studies at Athens Tech; she also volunteers at pet adoption events on the weekends. Jim and Joan are both still with UnitedHealthcare; Jim got himself a piano and is doing a lot of songwriting and Joan has been knitting and writing and making friends.

Life has changed dramatically. This, on the first anniversary of some major changes in our lives. Becoming grandparents - moving south to Georgia, leaving the Northeast after 23 years, becoming full time telecommuters.
While leaving family a friends behind is a difficult part of the change, the plus column outweighs the negative column by far!
Our grandson Dylan is a major joy in our life. Watching him grow is a gift and we are grateful to have the opportunity to do so. Being able to share these moments with Ehren and Sarah is a priceless treasure.
